99 mph Philadelphia prospect tested for elbow soreness

Is it because I threw too hard from spring camp?

Local media such as ‘MLB.com’ quoted Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thompson on the 4th (Korean time) and reported that prospect Andrew Painter (20) will undergo a checkup due to discomfort in his right elbow.

Painter started in an away game with the Minnesota Twins just two days ago and recorded 3 hits, 1 strikeout and 1 run in 2 innings.

The content was more impressive than the results. He overwhelmed the big league hitters with a fastball with a maximum speed of 99 mph and a cutter with a large drop. 원벳원 토토

Carlos Correa, who played against him, praised him as “a young player who will one day become a star.” Minnesota coach Rocco Baldelli asked back, “How old is that player this year?”

Ranked sixth in the preseason league prospect list by ‘MLB.com’, he is expected to occupy the last spot in Philadelphia’s opening rotation this season, following Aaron Nola, Jack Wheeler, Ranger Suarez and Taijuan Walker.

However, after an impressive start, injuries hampered him.

In an interview with the local media after the exhibition game against the Detroit Tigers on the 4th, coach Thompson said, “I had a little pain in my elbow yesterday. No test results came out. He will know more tomorrow (as soon as the test results come out),” he explained the situation.

Painter was selected by the Phillies with the 13th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 draft.

Last season, he was promoted from lower single A to upper single A and double A at high speed. He pitched 103 2/3 innings in 22 games, posting a 1.56 earned run average, 0.887 WHIP, 0.4 home runs, 2.2 walks and 13.5 strikeouts per 9 innings.
