‘Kane is a good example’ PSG should accept Real’s 167 billion offer after all

Take the case of Kane!

Will Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) accept Real Madrid’s offer for Kylian Mbappe, if it comes?

The Mbappe transfer drama has reached its final twist. Mbappe has made it official that he will leave the club this summer with one year left on his contract, much to PSG’s annoyance. Mbappe had openly expressed his desire to move to Real, but PSG was impatient and gave him a choice: sign an extension or sit on the bench for the rest of the season. PSG were keen to sell Mbappe, but the deal ultimately fell through.

Mbappe on the bench for the opening game. But when Neymar suddenly left for Saudi Arabia, Mbappe was thrust back into the first team squad. Extensions aside, it seemed like the season was set for Mbappe to play for PSG.

Then, out of nowhere, Real came calling. Having spent a lot of money this summer, including signing Judd Bellingham, I thought they had decided to wait for Mbappe to become a free agent next year. But then, lo and behold, local reports emerged ahead of the transfer window closing that Real were set to make a £130 million ($176 million) move for Mbappe.

German outlet Bild reported that Real are set to make a formal bid for PSG. Real lost veteran frontman Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia this summer. After the opening day, the team made an unorthodox move by playing Vinicius Junior and Rodrigo up front. However, their main positions were on the flanks. With Real looking to not only win the league, but the Champions League as well, they need to add a big-time goal scorer.

Real may have taken a cue from Tottenham and Harry Kane. Kane strongly wanted to move to Bayern Munich, and with a year left on his contract, the odds of him signing an extension with Spurs were almost zero. Spurs were in danger of losing Kane for free next year. In the end, they negotiated with Munich to get as much as possible for the player and sold him. It looks like PSG will have no choice but to follow the same path as Tottenham. If Mbappe leaves as a free agent next summer, it would be an astronomical loss for PSG. They might as well sell him if they get a reasonable offer. This is because Mbappe hasn’t shown any interest in signing an extension.
