Fenerbahçe have been very resourceful in the transfer market recently.
Profuturestars, a football publication specializing in football prospects, highlighted Fenerbahçe’s recent transfer activity on Tuesday.
Elif Elmas, Kim Min-jae, and Arda Güler were highlighted. First up is Elmas, who joined Fenerbahçe ahead of the 2017-18 season. At the time, his transfer fee was just €180,000 (approximately $256 million). After an adjustment period in his first season, Elmas excelled in his second season with Fenerbahçe.
His success at Fenerbahçe attracted the attention of Napoli, who offered him a new home after two years. Fenerbahçe received €16.2 million in transfer fees for Elmas. That’s a 90-fold return on a player who cost them 200 million. That’s one heck of a jackpot 꽁머니지급.
Next up was Kim Min-jae. Fenerbahçe brought in Kim ahead of the 2021-22 season after he excelled at Beijing Guoan. His transfer fee was 3 million euros (about 4.2 billion won). Kim has adapted perfectly to the Turkkiye League and has been one of the best defenders in the league.
Once again, Napoli were interested in the Fenerbahçe key player. Napoli offered €18.05 million (approximately KRW 25.7 billion) for Kim. Once again, Fenerbahçe got a six-fold return.
Fenerbahçe also made a huge profit ahead of the 2023-24 season. Four years ago, Fenerbahçe spent €2.5 million to bring in Arda Güler, who was just 13 years old. It was a huge investment in a young prospect. Güler rose through the ranks at Fenerbahçe’s youth academy and broke into the first team within two years of his arrival.
In the 2022-23 season, Güler proved to be Fenerbahçe’s next ace in the hole, but his performances sent shockwaves across Europe, and as soon as he started to show promise, the big clubs came calling. AC Milan, Real Madrid, and Barcelona were in the running.
The eventual winner was Real, who paid a €20 million ($28.4 billion) buyout. By selling Güler, Fenerbahçe made an eightfold profit.
